Founded in mid 18th century by Raja Mukand Singh, Mukandgarh fort today boats of some of the finest frescoes of shekhawati region, which is aptly called the 'Open Air Art Gallery of Rajasthan'. The fort houses several palaces, which are interspersed with courtyards, overhanging, arched windows and corridors displaying the richness, diversity and tradition of shekhawati Paintings. Complimenting the royal ambience of the Fort are many other tourist attractions in Mukandgarh. Prominent among these are Bheekraj Nangalia Haveli (built in 1860), Radha Krishanji Kanodia Haveli (built in 1865), Shivdutta Ganeriwala Haveli (built in 1870), Jagannath Ganeriwala Haveli and chhatri (built in 1865) and Bagrodia Haveli. Then there are beautiful temples like Gopinathji temple (built in 1861) and Venugopal Mandir (built in 1865).
