Ranchi, a small hill station in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. Located beside the Suvarnarekha River in the Chotanagpur Plateau region, Ranchi is a sylvan, quaint and untouched. The serene town of Ranchi is an ideal stop for health buffs. Ranchi used to be the summer capital of the state during the British rule. It is the hub for the regions agricultural, tea and cotton trade. Being the headquarters of National Coal Development Corporation, the Heavy Engineering Corporation, and the Hindustan Steel Company, Ranchi holds prominence in the Indian economy too. Amidst rich flora and fauna, Ranchi has many enchanting waterfalls around it. The picturesque Ranchi has inspired the Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore to write a major chunk of his prized work-Gitanjali.
