The amazing city of Aurangabad is renowned for its medieval monuments and cultural heritage. While at Aurangabad you must visit the landmark of Bibi-ka-Makbara. It is in fact the mausoleum of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's queen. Close by is a small archeological museum which is worth visiting. Another major tourist attraction in Aurangabad happens to be the water wheel of Panchakki. Then there is the tomb of the Sufi saint Baba Shah Muzaffar. You may also visit the Himroo (traditional cotton-silk blend fabric) factory, Purwar Museum, and Aurangabad Caves while at Aurangabad. Quality himroo textiles and brocaded Paithani saris are must buys from Aurangabad.
Further ahead of Aurangabad is the World Heritage site of the cave temples of Ellora and the world renowned Buddhist caves of Ajanta. On your way to Ellore from Aurangabad you may even check out the fortress of Daulatabad. Close to Ellora is the village of Verul where you must visit the sacred Grishneshwar temple. The Grishneshwar temple happens to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India, where Lord Shiva is worshipped and is hence an important pilgrimage for the Hindus.
