About Alor Beach Resort

"He shot an arrow, I know not where...
All I know, it landed there........."

In legend and history, the great God Parashurama shot an arrow into the sea from the Sayadhri Hills and commanded the ocean to withdraw to the point where it fell... thus was created the beautiful territory of Goa--a priceless heritage for future inhabitants.

This young state of India never ceases to enchant visitors from India and abroad. Its hospitality, culinary delights, ancient temples, churches, monuments, folk arts and music, the scenic beauty are enough reasons for any visitor to fall in love with Goa, and reasons enough to be titled 'the Pearl of the Orient'

Goa has a long and varied history. It has been ruled by the Maurian Empire, the Satavahanas of Kolhapur, the Chalukyas of Badami, the Shiharas, the Rashtrakutas, the Kadambas, the Chalukyans of Kalyani and the Yadavas, under whom it became a part of the Delhi Sultanate. The Portuguese were the last to rule Goa. They reigned from 1510 to 1961.

Goa was liberated from the Portuguese rule by the Indian army on the 19th of December 1961, and it was declared a full-fledged state on 12th of August 1987.

So whenever in Goa come to Alor. Your best bet for an exciting and enchanting holiday.

Travel Information

In the local dialect, Goa is often referred to as "Goa Dourada," (meaning "Golden Goa") because of its beaches, forts, churches, waterfalls, seminaries, and caves.

The major beaches in Goa are Anjuna, Claangute, Colva and Benaulim, Dona Paula, Vagator and Chapora, Cavelosim, and many more. Some of the other tourist attractions in Goa include Dudhsagar waterfall and Arvalem waterfall, the rock-cut caves of Khandepar and Arvalem, the Pilar monastery, Saligao seminary, and Rachol seminary. Apart from beaches and other attractions, Goa is also famous for its churches and temples. Some of the leading churches in Goa include, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, the Se Cathedral, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Church of St Cajetan, Church of St. Augustine, and others. Fort Aguada is worth a visit to savor the nostalgia of the Portuguese regime, especially in its lighthouse and the Aguada jail. The Terekhol Fort near the Arambol beach has been now converted into a hotel. The Museum of Christian Art at the Rachol Seminary and church and the Braganza House near Margao are also worth a visit. Besides these, to get a glimpse of the Hindu population in Goa, one has to visit Ponda. The Kerkar Art Complex in south Calangute is also an important tourist center.
