City Information

Khajjiar is aptly known as the “Switzerland of India”. Khajjiar is beautifully located amidst the deodar trees and the gorgeous green grasses. While at Khajjiar do visit the Khajjiar Lake. Though small in size the lake is fed by streams that pass through the gorgeous greens. The Khajinag temple is another landmark of Khajjiar. The temple dates back to the Mini Swiss2th century and is as the name indicates is dedicated to Khajinag. Inside the temple there are life-size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers from the Mahabharata. It is this temple that lends its name to Khajjiar. The temple is often referred to as the Golden Devi temple owing to its golden dome and spire. The tourists usually throng this temple. The other attraction of Khajjiar happens to be its nine-hole golf course.

Further ahead from Khajjiar are the beautiful scenic spots of Chamba and Dalhousie. Chamba is renowned for the medieval temples and the local festivities where as Dalhousie is a famous refuge for the sun scorched souls of the plains.
